Darby Reeder joins us to share about Victory Junction

Darby Reeder, Junior Miss Princess of North Carolina shared her passion and excitement for the Victory Junction program which provides camp scholarships for kids who are unable to attend regular camps because they have health issues. She shared about her recent visit to the camp and excitement for the program. Her goal is to raise the funds (about $2500) for 1 camper to attend this coming summer. Darby is 11 and attends Cleveland Middle school as a 6th grader. She is doing amazing things during her reign as Junior Miss Princess of North Carolina.

Visitors from Greater Wilson Rotary

Tonight we welcomed David Taylor and Bill Shreve from the Greater Wilson Rotary Club who shared information about that paper fundraiser as well as Breann Tuttle, senior at Neuse Charter, who is working on a book drive for her senior project. More information to come about how we can help.

Fall Fundraiser at Hinnant Vineyards - Big Success!
Fall Fundraiser at Hinnant Vineyards a big success. Thanks to the Brownlees, the Johnsons and Gary Ridout for all their hard work to make the event a huge success. Thanks to all Rotarians who sold tickets, brought Auction items and bought items, each contribution helped to make the event successful.
President Elect Maria shares program on the 4-Way Test

Maria shared the story behind the Four Way Test and how this has personally impacted her in her own business. We discussed supporting the Rose Bowl Parade by taking a small donation from each member.
The Brownlees and the Temple Baptist Mission Team Share their Argentina Experience

Group from Temple Baptist joined us to share how they witnessed during their recent mission to Argentina. Eric and Michelle Brownlee shared photos and memories from their experience.
Reminder to update your information at the District Website

This month has been busy - we enjoyed a great social gathering at the Brownlee's in late September and we have had several speak about their vocations including Perry and Rene Foy. Jamie Stanley was the winner for the Split the Pot after 11 weeks of drawing. Elaine reminded us that it is very important to update your information on the District 7710 website.
Dave Stuckey shares information about RYLA

September 16 program was geared toward Future Rotarians in the Neuse Charter chapter of Interact. 7 students from the club attended the meeting to hear Dave Stuckey share about the exciting adventure that RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Academy) offers to rising juniors interested in the program. He shared the survey from past participants and the positive comments that they made regarding the experience. He also shared that the event is moving to Camp Oak Hill in order to accept more participants. RYLA is to be held in the spring of 2014.
Michele Brownlee earns Paul Harris Fellow +1

September kicked off with a Club Assembly which included discussion on how we can regenerate funds to the operating account, the upcoming Quarterly Social at the home of Michele and Eric Brownlee on September 27, 2013 (513 Carolina Oaks Ave., Forest Oaks Subdivision). We also discussed the upcoming service projects, the website, and revised constitution and by-laws. Lastly, John Hobart presented Michele Brownlee her Paul Harris Fellow +1 pin from Rotary International for her continued dedication to our club and service to Rotary. The board met tonight - minutes and revised constitution documents will be posted on the Member's page.

District Governor, Leigh Hudson visits our Club

Leigh Hudson the District Governor visited our club to share his vision for his term. He also share interesting facts about Rotary's history and invited us to join him and the Clayton Rotary in January to go to the Dominican Republic where they will build latrines.

Nicholas has braved a life threatening disease yet he has selflessly given back to the others. He has done yearly Christmas drives to provide gifts for needy children in the community. Nicholas is a student at Johnston Community College. He was sponsored by Eric Brownlee to be our only Paul Harris Fellow for 2013.

Visiting Rotarians David Arn and Carlton Parnell

We are sad to lose our friend David Arn recently in an unfortunate accident. We were lucky to have had him visit our club just weeks prior to his passing. He was joined by this close friend and fellow rotarian, Carlton Parnell. David's legacy in Rotary will live on in our hearts forever.
